Children and Young People
At St Nicholas’ Church we have a full and active programme of activities for children and young people. We have a Youth Hub where lots of our work with children and young people is based. Here are details of some of our activities:
Sunday Bunch
Sunday Bunch is our children's club which runs on Sunday during the 10:45am service. Bible stories, activities and crafts for all children.
All Age Worship
We regularly have All Age Worship and family services. A more informal time of worship for all ages together. These often include lively songs, crafts, creative prayer times and interactive Bible stories.
Workshops
We run all age workshops with music, games, fun, craft activities and food each Christmas and Easter.
Summer Holiday Club
In the summer holidays we run a week-long holiday club for children, followed by an all-age celebration on the Sunday.
Parent/Toddler
Groups
We run two parent/toddler playgroups. Westwoodside Tiny Tots Playgroup meets on a Wednesday 9.30am-11.30am at Westwoodside Village Hall. Haxey Bambi Playgroup meets in the Youth Hub on a Thursday 9.30am-11.300am. These groups offeis a great play and socialising opportunity for little ones, as well as a chance for parents and carers to meet new friends, share parenting tips and receive/provide support. Sessions includes snack time with plenty of toys and craft material to entertain the children. There is also coffee, tea and biscuits for the adults
Special Events
In addition to our regular programme we often have special events of all kinds. These include concerts and trips, a recent highlight has been The Big Night Out at Lightwater Valley theme park.
Uniformed Organisations
St Nicholas Church `has strong links with all the local uniformed organisations who participate in our parade services and visit church as part of their programme. Some of the groups are based in our Youth Hub.
More Information
More information, including meeting times and places, for these activities is usually published in the weekly notice sheet, Parish magazine and on our Facebook page and web site.
