Isle of Axholme Foodshare Project

This scheme has now become well established, and around 100 people are benefitting from help from the Pantry each week. Clients come from all over the Isle, and we make deliveries each week to households in Epworth, Belton and Crowle among other places.

Please note that we are only able to make deliveries within the Isle of Axholme boundary.

We accept donations of surplus food from our partners - typically food shops and restaurants. Some local organisations are also acting as collection points. Donations from individuals are also very welcome. Food will be checked to make sure that it is safe to be used then it will be stored or distributed to families and individuals.Food Hygiene

We distribute the food in two ways: -

• by opening a Community Pantry at St Nicholas’ Church Youth Hub, Haxey, DN9 2HH on

Friday mornings from 9.30 a.m.-11.30 a.m. where members of our community can visit and help themselves to any food that is available. Each person is provided with a shopping basket. There are no questions asked, no forms to fill in and no supporting documents needed. All that we ask is that people do not take more food than they need. We also operate the Community Café, serving refreshments to those who are waiting or to anyone who wishes to drop in.

• By delivering food parcels to members of the communities within the Isle of Axholme. Referrals may be made in confidence by anyone (children’s centre, schools, parish councils, WI groups, friends etc) and we will arrange for parcels to be delivered.

People are welcome to visit the pantry each Friday morning, or if they cannot attend, to recieve a parcel at home.

Unlike the traditional food banks we will collect fresh, chilled and frozen food and food that is close to date. Where possible food will be frozen to preserve it.

Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, our allotment is growing well. We're looking forward to sharing the fresh vegetables with our families soon.
