Elizabeth Coulson
Elizabeth was born on
21st December 1936 to Edith ad Ernest Cole. She lived at Maydyke
with her brother, Alfred and her younger sister, Dorothy.
Elizabeth married Herbert Coulson on 25th January 1958. In November 1961 they welcomed their only child, Nick.
Elizabeth and Herbert enjoyed going dancing every Wednesday night. They also enjoyed visiting the coast, particularly Scarborough and Bridlington. They also used to travel to London to visit and stay with Alfred.
Elixabeth was a keen baker, a particular favourite being cakes and plum bread.
In 1999 Herbert died. Elizabeth was brave and continued to live in Garthorpe with support from her family and friends. She enjoyed attending clubs in Epworth; going to the River Don for Luncheon Club; going to the Chapel and meeting her friends.
Elizabeth loved all her cats: Boots, Poppy and Loulou.
She was a very strong and proud lady, and would not allow her MS to faze her.
In 2016 Elizabeth took ill. She was so upset to have to leave her home in Garthorpe, but went to live at Randolph House, just around the corner from Nick and Diane. Her niece, Trudie, lived near also and visited on a regular basis, as sis her nephew, Andrew, and her sister Dorothy.
Elizabeth liked to talk about Garthorpe and the jobs she had had: working at the potato factory, and then working for Social services as a home help, riding her bike to the clients’ houses until she got a car. She continued working until she was sixty.
Elizabeth enjoyed shopping trips with family and friends. Later she enjoyed all activities at the care home.
Elizabeth loved her family unconditionally: nephews, niece and step-granddaughters Sarah and Claire. She was proud to be a great grandma to Owen, Hollie, Chelsea, Jon and Alesha. Also, a great-great grandma to Bonnie.
Elizabeth was very fond of Nick’s dogs, Alfie and Freddie. Freddie had a strong bond with Elizabeth – she called him Freddie Flintoff.
Elizabeth also enjoyed the various get-togethers with the family, and she was loved by family and friends alike.
She was brave, kind and selfless – simply the best.
Rest in peace, you will be missed always.
Her family would like to express their thanks to all staff at Randolph House Care Home.
