Pilgrimage Trail

PilgrimageThere’s something deeply human about pilgrimage walking. It is slow, grounding and deliberate the opposite of our rushed, distracted modern lives. The rhythm of the feet, the silence of nature, and the sense of being held by something bigger than yourself all allow for deep, spiritual healing. The path becomes sacred not just because of where it leads, but because of how it transforms the person walking it. And the path doesn’t have to be long; it can be a few short miles — just enough to allow for a deepening and reconnecting with our God, who is too often lost to the busyness of life. No emails, no to-do lists, no demands on time; just a path, a small backpack, the beauty of Creation and friends - or even strangers who become friends. We hope our pilgrim walks become paths where God’s presence is a source of comfort and reassurance, and pilgrims discover that peace doesn’t come from adding more to life, but from carrying less.

We hope you will join with us in some small way to make the Isle of Axholme Pilgrimage Trail successful for not only pilgrims, but for all the churches on the Isle.

Our first pilgrimage is on Tuesday 30th September, starting at 12.30 p.m. from St. Nicholas' Church, Haxey and walking to St. Martin's Church, Owston Ferry
